John McLaughlin Comes To India For Two-City Tour

John McLaughlin… a man who has redefined how people perceive different genres of music over his long and still-strong career of  50 years. Named as “the best guitarist alive”, by none other than Jeff Beck, John McLaughlin is known for fusing various forms of music ranging from jazz, progressive rock and most importantly Indian classical in the numerous projects he worked in. He is most known for his work in the jazz-rock band Mahavishnu Orchestra, the Indian fusion band Shakti and most notably for his contribution to the electric-jazz fusion albums of the jazz legend, Miles Davis.

Many prominent guitarists have a high regard for his fast playing and acute technicality he maintains in his songs, which fiddle with complex time signatures and scrumptious melodies. Throughout his career of 50 years, he has played with the likes of Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Chick Corea, Zakir Hussain, Paco de LucĂa, Carlos Santana and has influenced a lot of notable guitarists like Steve Morse, Eric Johnson, Paul Masvidal, Mikael Akerfeldt and many more.

And if you haven’t heard the news already, the legendary guitarist is coming down to India with The 4th Dimension for a two-city tour. He’ll be playing two shows in Chennai and Mumbai on April 4 and 5 respectively, before he flies out to Palestine to complete his Asian tour. So if you’re in Chennai or Mumbai, then you just cannot not attend this!

April 4, 2014 - Music Academy, Chennai
April 5, 2014 - St. Andrews Auditorium, Mumbai
