Song of the Week - Blakhole: DUMB FUCK
Founded in 2011, Blakhole is an old school punk band from Kolkata, churning out pure revolution and aggression through their music. And this is just a short and sweet teaser of the brand new lineup with which they plan to strike Strength of Steel! Would be fun to see their Black Sabbath cover!

Song of the Week - Hellwind: Taste of Metal
Heavy Metal has the passion which most genres lack. Yes, there are bands who have that ego problem, but the music comes from the heart in most cases, like it should be. And for the ego fueled maniacs out there, there will be someone who stands up and shuts their mouths (or ass, whichever speaks for them :P ).
Taste of Metal is one of those tracks where Hellwind speaks about the pretender and fake world surrounding us. Ignoring the negativity by the power of Heavy Metal, Hellwind, which started off as a cheesy metal band, makes it a point to differentiate between what is true and what should have been flushed in the toilet. But somewhere between all the cheese fest and glam metal approach, Hellwind have kept, what vocalist Akshay Deodhar quotes as "...little homage to selling our souls to the devil for heavy metal..."

Song of the Week: Armament - Gas Chamber
This song is about a tragic event that took place in Kolkata in 2011, where 100s of helpless people were trapped inside a burning hospital and eventually had to lose their lives because of some basic negligence from the authorities. The spirit of thrash metal doesn't fear the authority, and this track explicates the scenes from that moment as one might have endured, as well as the aftermath that lead to a more horrible and unfortunate conclusion in history. In memory of the lost souls and lost hopes.
This track will be a part of Armament's EP, which is being launched on the 22nd of August! Check out this exclusive preview here.

Song of the Week: Falcun - Eye Of The Storm
Relatively new to the thriving Metal scene in India, Falcun have made a big statement with their debut track "Eye Of The Storm".Based on the ever debated fact of human negligence of their own surroundings and trying to work for tomorrow while forgetting about today.
The story goes with the main character being just another lost soul in the crowd looking for solace. But, even through this ordeal of monotony and corporate slavery, he has his faith intact and alive inside. The story takes a big turn when he creates a metal warrior who goes out to defend his faith!

The Festival - Sonic Boom!
After creating waves in the Kolkata music scene with shows featuring Poets of the Fall, Nothnegal, Hacride, Point of View and hosting Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal of Guns 'N Roses, THE Festival is back with the BIGGEST New Year's Eve party EVER in Kolkata - Sonic Boom! Sonic Boom will feature feature Infected Mushroom, the world famous DJ duo who have created ripples in the field of EDM globally. Live: A Chat - Metalbase India(Kolkata)
So, while we were at the venue interviewing Midhaven, we had a chance to chat with one of the organisers of the Kolkata leg of the tour, representing Metalbase India. Here we talk about Kolkata's gig scene, how supportive the venues are to host gigs. And, then we ask them why isn't Metalbase India as active as a webzine in the city, as compared to other parts of the country. Watch on!
Live: A Chat - Midhaven!
Midhaven are a bunch of young lads from Mumbai playing some quality Progressive Metal. Signed on to Universal Music and releasing their debut album - Spellbound, through them. We caught up with the band while they were on their North-East India tour for an improptu chat about their music, their album and a few other little secrets. Check it out!
