What Went Down: Pandemonium III

Finally the day Delhi has been waiting for! There have been bands coming in and performing in the city for some time now, but none of them on a massive grand scale as Pandemonium III. What would be Impiety's third performance in India after Bangalore and Kolkata, Delhi hosted the legendary band for the first time, to wrap up the Heretical Decimation 2014 Tour. Here's a little blow by blow account of what went down:

The customary tweet commences the ritual:

And the timing couldn't have been more perfect! Poltergeist took center stage as we reached the venue!

We all love Cannibal Corpse, don't we? ;)

And a little Instagram love, because we love our hashtags :P

Next up - homeboys Fragarak!

Some Instagram for them too. Studs love 'em Instagram!

Next in line were Stark Denial from Mumbai. These guys know their shit!

Some Instagram love for them too!

Then we decided to give out a quick roundup of the happenings and all before Winter Gate started their massive set. All this because our Facebook page was getting lonely :P

Winter Gate take center stage!

Lots of Instagram love shared here!

They know how to surprise us!

Take a punch, Oxygen. You too, Carbon, you bitch!

Another quick summary and selfless, self promotion:

Cosmic Infusion! And they were sounding massive!

Some Instagram love here because we love to see face paints!

And before the "smartphone" showed how smart it is in conserving battery charge, we caught a bit of 1833 AD on the social media!

And technology had the last laugh of the day :'(

We didn't get to bring you live updates from the Impiety set, apologies for that. But honestly, the atmosphere there just couldn't have been showcased via some tweets or Instagram photos. You had to be there to witness the mayhem. History was made in Delhi, people were satisfied. And at the end of the day, that's what keeps the music scene going!
Until next time, #LiveAGig signing off!

THE STORMFEST : ANNIVERSARY: What went down!

Pune needed a little love from Live: A Gig. There have been some exceptional shows in the city but with little or no coverage compared to other cities. So, with the help of our little friend Armaan, we decided to show some love to Pune and cover The Stormfest : Anniversary!

With a lineup consisting of Ephemeral, Knights & Circles, Orcus, Ragnhild, Consecration; alongside the mind blasting giants - Providence from Mumbai and RSJ Metal Awards 2014 award magnets The Down Troddence, we had the feeling that the gig was going to be massive even before the gig started!

Here's how it all went down -

Just to be on the safe side, we decided to warn our followers that we aren't responsible for what happens from the evening :P

And before we knew it, Armaan takes the wheel to bring you the latest from the venue!

Ephemeral did the honours of opening the gig and they did it with style!

Knights & Circles were up next, and they surely didn't disappoint!

Next up - Orcus. And when the kid says shit is getting serious, he meant it. The engines were rolling at full capacity and it was hardly halfway through the gig! Covering Gojira is one hell of an achievement!

The ghost of the pit has struck Stormfest! Orcus doing the honours!

Consecreation took up the stage next and showed some class on the stage!

Some sweet guitar solos? Yes, please!

Providence! Need I say more?

Some real, true and non-photoshopped hair glory advertisement. These shampoo companies should consider changing their high profile models to metalheads for better marketing!

And a Hatebreed cover!

Slipknot!

The Down Troddence! You have chick magnets, these guys are award magnets. One of the highly awarded bands in the country at this moment ready to decimate Pune with their set. And they did it in style!

KFC is the secret to TDT's vocalists deep growls :P

They play Roots Bloody Roots and the camera image quality goes down to the decade of Kodak roll films! Divine intervention? :O

The Down Troddence ended with a flavour of their own awesomeness and then it was time to sail off to the medieval period for some Viking Metal with Ragnhild, who could only play one song due to time constraints it seems

And with that, our little friend Armaan signed off. But before leaving, he did tweet this little tweet of encouragement :')

Pune has been really supportive to their local scene in recent times. With more and more gigs being organissed in the city, we at Live: A Gig wish them all the best for the long run. And needless to say, we would love to come back and show some more love to the scene ;)

Insurrection 3!

Sound-Awake is back with the third version of Insurrection, their heavy metal themes series of events which made its debut on the 1st of December 2013, at Ion Bar and Kitchen. With its sophomore edition
featuring the likes of heavy metal stalwarts such as Neolithic Silence, Shepherd and Dark Desolation raising many an eyebrow and acting as a wake-up call for the denizens of metaldom in India to sharpen their swords, polish their armour and prepare themselves for its upcoming editions, Insurrection has made its foray into the dark malevolent world of heavy metal amidst thunderous applause and cemented its position as one of the most sought after platforms for promoting heavy metal in India.
‘To be quite frank, Sangeeth and I thought the event would glacially pace itself towards grandiose and in our wildest dreams we never thought that our product would hurtle itself towards country wide glory in less than a year of its inception. I am not blowing my trumpet here, but I would like to specify that Insurrection was conceptualized with thematic leanings towards the more arcane and unforgiving forms of music and for an endeavour specializing in such left-hand path art-forms to penetrate into the citadel of extreme metal and cement its position there, is nothing short of phenomenal and the journey from obscurity to identity has been extremely gratifying’ says Preetham Rao.
This event boasts a line-up that features bands specializing in extremely diverse genres. The poster (designed by Pramanik Studios) is out and the line-up is given below

Date: 15th of June, 2014.
Venue: Ion Bar and Kitchen.
Tickets: INR 450 at the gate and early bird passes priced at INR 350 will be available with the bands and certain outlets which will be announced in due course.

Art work and customized items will be sold by a host of art vendors which again will be announced later. Details and developments surrounding the gig will be posted on the event page.

Freewheel Rollin': What went down!

So, after two amazing gigs in Chennai and getting the honour to cover Kolkata's debut crowd funded metal gig, it was high time we covered something in Bangalore. And, the opportunity was knocking at our face - Freewheel Rollin' would be the first gig to be covered by Live: A Gig in Bangalore. Here's what went down during the amazing evening:

So, as a customary thing, we had to put this update first -

And then the mayhem starts. First band - Hard Enough

This was the best cover of the night, hands down!

These guys were just mad!

Them licks, them damn guitar licks!

A little love from our Instagram profile

Next band - Pinch

Inspired by the PJ's from the vocalist, we made a fool out of ourselves :P

The new song sounded epic!

One for the bass :)

The vocal range and the use of the vocal processor!

Instagram Love <3

Next band - The News, playing their comeback gig!

Yes, it was!

They had made a perfect comeback!

Instagram lovey dovey :)

Next band - Stuck In November. Another comeback!

Pimping for the venue and the band with pathetic grammar

And a little something from Instagram :)

Next up - White Mug, releasing their debut EP :)

Andre, The Giant was big. White Mug can be that big too!

Instagram bromie homie, yo!

Next band - All The Fat Children! All of them. Actually only three of them :(

And after this, we had to go for a small dinner break and couldn't update the set. And when we return, this was the scene. Sorry guys :(

The headlining act was next - Solder!

These guys took control of the crowd from the word go. And then the British Tube Distortion guitar solo came!

We all know the Cookie Monster, right?

And Solder were getting everyone grooving! Be it a receding hairline, or receding waistline, age simply didn't matter :D

A little thank you to Sound Awake and The Humming Tree before we got out of the venue hoping to get an auto back to our shelter who won't charge a bomb :(

Lastly, kudos to the organisers for the band selection. A debut gig always gives you the nerves and the guys at Sound Awake pulled it off brilliantly!
